With Thanksgiving fast approaching, we know those of you who are hosting at your home must be thinking about all the cooking and cleaning that still needs to be done. On that note, we're sharing a page by mambi Design Team member Heather Kell (IG | blog) that she created to help her remember the last time she did those BIG chores around her house so she could assess when's the best time to do them again.
If she's hosting Thanksgiving, we're sure the next date Heather would write down on her DIY Cleaning Chart would come from next week. Talk about brilliant! We're running to our Happy Planners™ to create the same page right now!
About this page, Heather writes:
"You know those big tasks that you have to do pretty often, but not THAT often - for example, getting your car's oil changed? I don't know about you guys, but I am TERRIBLE at remembering when I did those kinds of things last. And if I don't remember when I did them last, how am I suppose to know when I need to do them again?
I decided to use my Happy Planner™ supplies to help create a solution to that problem by creating a "When was the last time I...." checklist! I brainstormed a bunch of tasks that I do often, but not THAT often, and then chose my top 9 most important ones. The nine tasks I chose were: the last time I washed my car, mopped the floors, cleaned out the fridge, washed our sheets, got my oil changed, cleaned the oven, cleaned the pool filter, flipped the mattress, and checked the smoke alarms. There are several other things I could have included on this list, like changing the A/C filter, getting new toothbrushes, changing my contacts out for new ones, etc. You can really customize this list for whatever your needs might be. I definitely suggest brainstorming a list before creating these checklists so that you know exactly what you want to include!"
"I then used checklist stickers from the pink banded 'Every Day Plans' 1000+ sticker value pack and stuck them to a piece of graph paper from the Note & Graph Paper B&W Stripes pack. I titled each checklist with one of the 9 tasks that I chose. I went ahead and filled in the recent dates for when I did those tasks so that I could already see those dates and know when I need to do them again. In the future, every time I do one of these tasks, I will add the most recent date to the list!
This checklist now lives in the front of my Happy Planner™. Every time I open my planner, I will see this checklist. I think it's going to be a great reminder to get these tasks completed on time. And we all know that it's easier to get tasks completed when they are on cute checklists, right?"
