Today we're excited to continue a new blog series called 'I Am a Happy Planner', and the next happy planner we're featuring is mambi Social Media Coordinator Amanda Zampelli. We asked Amanda a few questions about how she uses The Happy Planner™ system, and we hope her answers inspire you to plan your happy life...
Tell us a little about YOU!
Hi, everyone! I'm Amanda Zampelli: the Social Media Coordinator for me & my BIG ideas. That means most of the instgramming, facebooking, pinning, tweeting, e-mailing, and blogging responsibilities for mambi fall on my shoulders. I also have a responsibility to come up with creative and inspiring ways to use product, hype new information to customers, design web images, keep the website up to date, manage the women on the Design Team, and arrange for collaborations with other like-minded brands.
When I'm not coordinating mambi's social media, I'm designing, crafting or blogging something for my website, watching How I Met Your Mother with my boyfriend and cats, decorating my new apartment, busting my butt at the gym, or Bachata dancing!
How do you use The Happy Planner™ to organize your life?
I use products from The Happy Planner™ line every single day. The system that's worked best for me is when I use a sheet (or two) from the Weekly Planner Pad to write out my daily, long, ever-changing ToDo lists, filled with things as big as a 'birthday' or 'wedding' and as tiny as 'clean cat litter box'. You can see an example of that here.
In my actual Happy Planner™, I've found myself using it to memory keep. I resize and print out photos from my week, and use me & my BIG ideas stickers and handwritten journalling to fill my pages. You can see a flip-through from July to August of how I did that here.
Now with the Fitness Planner and Recipe Organizer in my possession, I feel like I need to reevaluate how I could get the most out of all these great organizational tools!
What are some of your favorite Happy Planner™ products?
The sticky note packs are a couple of my favorite Happy Planner™ products for sure, because I'm afraid of commitment. Haa haa! Just kidding. They really POP off the page, and are great to use for notes to yourself you don't want to miss. I've been known to reinforce a sticky note's stick with a glue-dot runner and give it a permanent home on my page.
Also, there's no denying the power of positive thinking, and I love how me & my BIG ideas products are filled with various uplifting messages. Their newest 'Life Quotes' sticker pad is sticker-truth in its purest form! Their pre-punched Inspiration Cards are a favorite of mine too, especially opposite the 'Important Dates' pages in my Happy Planner™ as seen here.
What is your planning routine? When and where do you plan?
WHEN: I tend to spend the most time setting up my Happy Planner™ on the weekends. Saturday morning is for memory keeping. I go through photos from the Saturday to Friday of the previous week, resize them, and print them out. Sunday morning, I rip off a fresh sheet from the Weekly Planner Pad and write down as many daily ToDos for the upcoming week as I can foresee -- that way my busy work week is planned out, and come Monday morning I am clear and focused and can get right to it.
WHERE: I never plan in one space only. When I want to be productive, I tend to plan on my large, open dining table that doubles as my crafting space. When I want to feel most creative, I've been known to spread out all my Happy Planner™ products on my wood floor and - in cool Kal Barteski-style - crouch over my planner to plan & create on its pages! When I feel casual and relaxed, the couch is where I go with my planner, some sticky notes, and my favorite pen.
Is there anything else you'd like to include, or any planning tips you'd like to share?
I'd like to encourage everyone with a Happy Planner™ in their hands to look down at it and say "Planner, you are not precious. I will mess you up and make you sloppy, but together we will get stuff done and have fun doing it!" I think all too often we, as paper lovers, worship the untouched page. I think this gets in the way of what all these products are created for us to do: USE THEM.
Experiment and see what works best for you. If you mess up a page, rip it out and start fresh the next week...or stick a pretty sticker over the 'messed up' part...or slather paint on top of it... Your planner is not precious. Your time spent creating with it IS, so go crazy and have fun! XOXO!
