We can always count on mambi Design Team member Jen Randall for something brilliant, beautiful, and inspirational! Today, we're sharing this desk makeover she did for her daughter using a bunch of our new products.
About the inspiration for this makeover, Jen writes:
"I have wanted to makeover the desk in my daughter's room for some time. It is a super cute desk, but it lacked some pizzazz and pretty. I always think studying or doing homework is much easier when things are organized and look cute! When I saw the prints in the new DIY Gallery Art Pads, I knew they would be perfect for this project. My daughter fell in LOVE with the darling zebra print from the 'Ins't She Lovely' pad, so we started with that and created a bunch of fun all around it. I think beautifying her space with mambi really paid off: she just got a 100% on her science test!"
A few of Jen's tips/ideas for doing a desk makeover:
- I love clear containers or drawers for organizing, like the inexpensive rolling cart next to the desk, but I don't like seeing the things inside. A super easy fix: cut some cute mambiSHEETS paper (like the hot pink & gold polka dots) to size and slip it in. Add a label with large mambiSTICKS to remember what's inside.
- When using the DIY Gallery Art Pads, try using something other than a frame to display the print. For the large gold on white print, I used a large canvas. I first added modeling paste around the edge of the canvas. Once that dried, I added some pink watercolor to make the print pop. Lastly, I used my hot glue gun to attach some clothespins on the top to clip in the art. It worked perfectly!
- The new Create 365™ Weekly Calendar Pad is perfect for young students like my daughter. It lays out one week at a time, which is not too overwhelming. She can plan out her week easily and stay organized! Adding mambiSTICKS is fun too of course!
Jen knocked this desk makeover out of the park, in our opinion. We wish she was our mom.
In addition to the mambi supplies shown above, Jen used the large Weekly Calendar pad from our Create 365™ The Happy Planner™ system, and the following items: 3-drawer rolling cart (Wal-Mart), desk & white desk chair (IKEA), 'peace' pillow & flowers (Hobby Lobby), owl pencil cup & large canvas (Michael's), pin board (Home Goods), lamp (Target), and random frames from her stash.
