Today I'm happy to bring you the first of many posts featuring art journal pages, because let's be real: creativity is creativity. It comes in many forms, at random times, and sometimes calls you to play with paper and paint in ways that only make sense in an art journal.
Art journals invite you to 'get messy', leave rules behind, and just play. When you do this, you are able to try new techniques that maybe you otherwise wouldn't. You end up getting inspired by your own rampant creativity, and stumble upon new tricks to add to your more 'styled' projects (i.e. scrapbook layouts or POCKET PAGES™).
For these three pages in my art journal, used strips of paper I trimmed from the Black & White Trendy Graphics mambiSHEETS paper pad and the Paint Palette mambiSHEETS paper pad. One page focused on positivity, one on a cactus painting, and the last one on a stapled collage of paper strips (...that I tried to sew, but that's another story).
I consider that little back & white triangle paper a secret weapon. ;) It makes every project you use it on look fresh, and pairs really well with a bigger, contrasting patterns. It was the main element on all three pages, and worked nicely as a background piece.
I have seen some of the ladies on the mambi Design Team this year create awesomely beautiful pages in their art journals. Looking forward, I hope they'll produce some pages they're willing to share with you all here. Stay tuned!
