When the days and nights get warmer, I find myself wanting to spend a lot of time outdoors. We love to have informal BBQs in our backyard and just relax in the summer sun. I usually like to add a little personal touch to gatherings at our house...and these decorated paper straws are the perfect addition for a icy cold, refreshing drink. They're super easy to make. I'll show you how!
First you want to find some paper straws. There are plenty of great sources on the internet...just search paper straws. You could also use any kind of drink or swizzle stick.
Next, you'll want to choose a coordinating piece of paper and some stickers or embellishments that coordinate with your theme or color scheme.
Trim your paper into strips that you will fold around your straw. I cut mine 1 7/8" x 5".
The rest is SO easy! You simply put adhesive on the back side of your paper strips and wrap around the straw. Be sure to add adhesive to about 3/4 of your paper. That way you'll have the sticky part on your straw and it won't slide down.
If you want a little notch out of the flag, you can use scissors or a craft knife. I just eyeball it. There's no reason for these to be perfect...after all....it's summer baby!
And to top it all off, add some stickers, embellishments or rhinestones! Or leave them plain if you have a lot to do. Just remember that these are the lazy days of summer and you should get to relax too!
