That's our word for 2013!!  In my house we kicked off the year choosing that word to 'guide' our thinking.  Focusing on gratitude has been a great way to keep our perspectives in the right place when life gets busy!  I made this huge canvas to go on our mantle as an everyday inspiration to live a grateful life!

I love how it turned out and I wanted to recreate this on a smaller scale using mambi alphabets.  I love our big alphabet stickers that you can find at Michaels, Hobby Lobby &  Here are the supplies I used.

The first thing you need to do is get a bunch of color on the canvas!  I learned this awesome technique from Flora Bowley when I took her e-course Bloom True last year.   I highly recommend this class, it was so fun, inspiring, freeing & made me feel like a true artist!  I started by dripping fluid paint on to my canvas, spraying it with water and tilting the canvas to create drips & cover up the white.  You could also paint the canvas or decoupage patterned paper on to the canvas (we will have a video on this coming soon!).

Once the background was dry I stuck down the alphabet stickers.  I really liked the pinkish color on the right so I wanted to make sure a little of that would show through.  I let that help me decide where I placed my letters.  Then I painted over the entire canvas with a few neutral colors, mixing as I painted.

Before the paint dried I pulled up the stickers.  Once it dries completely I think the letters would be stuck down for good!

A pretty simple project with an awesome outcome!
